Week 7: Do Research on Main Hardware Requirement

 

Objective:

List out all the main Hardware component needed to complete the prototype

 

Description:

After listing all the possibilities of hardware during project proposal, I started to search on more of the components. One of them is Arduino. There are some models that has their own function. I was thinking about size first, because the prototype will be installed on the bicycle. It cannot be the big one. So, I choose Arduino Nano. Arduino Nano has enough pin to make my project works.

After that, I started to search on accelerometer sensor. Accelerometer sensor is use for detecting the cyclist fall. Accelerometer sensor also has some choices based on function the user needs. Since I was only detecting the fall by calculating the angle of the bicycle, then I will need 3-axis accelerometer.

After searching for Arduino and Accelerometer sensor, I started to search for GPS modules. GPS is for acquiring the location of the cyclist. This would ease the family member / emergency services to find the cyclist if accident happened.

The last main hardware will be GSM modules. GSM module is used for sending alert message and the location of the cyclist to the next of kin. The GSM module needed for my project will be a simple GSM module that has 2G because the project I propose only requires 2G to send SMS.

 

Conclusion:

I get to learn more about the hardware I’m going to use for the project. I have selected the actual component that I am going to use in FYP2 later. I also got to know the price of each component.

WEEK 1 : FIRST BRIEFING FOR FYP1

Date: 23 July 2020 (Thursday) Activity :  FYP1 briefing class. The briefing was conducted in FYP1 class. The attendance of all the student that are taking the FYP1 was compulsory. Objective : Explanation of FYP1 detail Determine the requirement for FYP1 Description : The briefing was conducted by Madam Arfah. In the briefing, Madam Arfah have briefed us about the content of the project.  Objective Learning Outcomes Project Scope Research Conclusion : The students were required to carefully select the title of the project. WEEK 6: PROPOSAL DEFENSE AND INTERVIEW SESSION

  Week 6: Proposal Defense and Interview Session   Objective: Prepare for proposal defense Make interview appointment and interview question   Description: This week is about proposal defense. Every students are waiting for the result of proposal defense whether they need to do proposal defense or not. Alhamdulillah, I was not on the list. It's means I don't have to do proposal defense. So, I decided to interview one of the cyclist from the local cycling club.
