FYP1 Logbook Sem July 2020

  Week 17: Finalize Report and Submission of FYP1   Objective: Continue with finalizing the report Meet with supervisor to give feedback from accessor Submit FYP1   Description: This week is the last of the FYP1. I asked Madam Roziyani my supervisor to meet in Microsoft Team to let her know the feedback given by the accessor and to finalize the report. I have to update my report content based on the slide correction. After finish writing the content of the report, I started edit the format of the report based on the guideline given. It is kind of hard to follow, but after doing some searching and studying. I have finally completed the format for my FYP1 report. I have followed the guideline from A to Z even though it’s hard. Lastly is the submission. There are 3 things that need to be submitted. -    FYP1 Final Report 2.       -  FYP1 Slide Presentation 3.       -  Summary of Meeting Slide presentation and summary of meeting need to be submitted to the coordina

  Week 16: Presentation Week   Objective: Finalize the slides with supervisor Present with accessor   Description: In this week, I have to prepare for the FYP1 presentation. The presentation will be access by 2 accessor that is Madam Shahrizad and Dr Amna. I have made an appointment before to set the date and time of presentation with both accessor. Before present, I have to finalize with my supervisor Madam Roziyani for the last time before present. After checking the slides, I asked madam Roziyani to give some tips for presentation.  My presentation is held in the Microsoft Team on 11/11/2020 at 4.00PM The tips given was really helpful. I apply the tips during presentation, and it helps me. The whole presentation went well. Conclusion: Madam Roziyani has checked the slides and I am ready presentation. The presentation went well even though my project has some improvement need to be done in FYP2 later.

Week 15: Preparation before Presentation   Objective: Finish making slides for presentation   Description: This week is a week before presentation. I decided to make slides and finish it in this week. Plus, my supervisor Madam Roziyani will check my slides next week before presentation and try to present with her. To make the slides, students were given the format of slides. The slides content will be the same as the report but will fewer points. After completed slides, I started making a script for presentation.   Conclusion: I have finish up the slides presentation and script. All the contents are same as the format.

Week 14: Do Correction on Chapter 1, 2 and 3   Objective: Do correction on Chapter 1, 2, and 3 based on the meeting with supervisor   Description: After meeting with supervisor and discuss on Chapter 1, 2, and 3. I have to do the correction on the report before proceeding to make a slides presentation. This is because, words from report can used in presentation even though it was not in the slides. This whole week I just finish up the report. Plus, I don’t have to make the report after presentation. I just do final adjustment in the week of finishing up report.   Conclusion: I have finish up the final report. It’s still needs adjustment, but I will continue after presentation and consulting with supervisor. Next, I will start making slides for preparing for presentation.

  Week 13: Submit Chapter 3 and Start Mockup Slides Presentation   Objective: Submit Chapter 3 to supervisor Start making slides presentation   Description: Final draft report should be submitted to supervisor by last week. It is for the supervisor to check for correction. Since I have completed the report, so I need to proceed with preparing the slides for presentation that will be held on next week. I start making the slides by choosing the theme first, which theme is suitable for presentation. Then I start copy and paste content from the report and shorten it to become points. All elaboration needs to be removed as this is presentation. Presentation only need points.   Update: FYP1 Presentation was postpone to week 16. That will be next 2 weeks. So, I have extra weeks to discuss with Madam Roziyani on my slide’s presentation.   Conclusion: Final Draft Report has been submitted to supervisor and I have started making slides for presentation. But I still hav

  Week 12: Complete Design Phase   Objective: To complete all the design required for the report   Description: This week, I will have to complete all the design and diagram. First will be project diagram, project diagram is used to understand how the prototype working Second will be Main Hardware Diagram, hardware diagram is used to show the connection of Arduino Nano with Accelerometer sensor, GPS Module and GSM module. All of the device will be connected wired to Arduino Nano. Third will be block diagram, block diagram is used for visualizing the connection of Arduino Nano with all other components   Last will be project flowchart, project flowchart is used to show the flow of how the Cyclist Emergency Detection system works. It will show how the devices react after getting data from Arduino Nano.   Conclusion: All of the diagram needed has been completed by this week. All of the design will be shown in the design phase in the report in Chapter 3.

  Week 11: Submit Chapter 1 & 2 and Continue with Chapter 3   Objective: Submit Chapter 1 and 2 to supervisor Complete Chapter 3   Description: After finished draft on Chapter 1 and 2, this week I continue with Chapter 3 which is Methodology. In this chapter, first I need to choose what methodology model I should use. After survey, some project report from previous report, I choose Iterative Waterfall Model. With this model I can turn back 1 phase before to change the design or architecture of the project.   As for diagram, I was thinking to start design next week. This week I will finish other part of Chapter 3 that is Project resource, Budget and costing, and WBS. Conclusion: I have complete part of Chapter 3. Next week I need to finish all the design.

  Week 10 : Writing on Chapter 1   Objective: To complete Chapter 1   Description: Since I have completed Chapter 2, I have to complete Chapter 1 so that I can submit to Madam Roziyani for checking and correction. In this Chapter 1, I have to write about the Introduction of the project. Most of the content can be take from Proposal that was submitted before. From there, I have to elaborate more so it can be report. The report of Chapter 1 consists of Project background, Problem statement, Objective, Expected outcome, and Project scope.   Conclusion: I have completed first draft of my report of Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. It will then be submitted for checking and correction to Madam Roziyani.

  Week 9: Start Writing on Chapter 2   Objective: To complete the Chapter 2 report   Description: For this week, Madam Roziyani asked me to complete Chapter 2 first to find the problem faced by the cyclist. It will be used to make problem statement clearer. Chapter 2 is Literature Review. It consists of related concept, related research, and critical analysis. Related concept will be what technology that I use in the project. That is Internet of Thing (IoT), Accelerometer Sensor, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). Related research consists of previous project that I choose to refer to. There are 4 project that I refer to as reference. Critical analysis is the summary of the previous project. The summary include objective, method used and result.   Conclusion: This week I have done writing report on Chapter 2. Before submitting to Madam Roziyani for checking and correction, I have to complete Chapter 1 first.

  Week 8: Planning Project Timeline and Submit Gantt Chart   Objective: To plan the whole FYP1 timeline Submit Gantt Chart to Supervisor   Description: Students need to submit Gantt Chart to the supervisor on week 8. I have planned some task to complete from FYP1 to FYP2. Gantt Chart was supposed to start from first day of starting to make the project proposal in FYP1 until the prototype has finished in FYP2. Conclusion: The gantt chart have been submitted to Madam Roziyani .

  Week 7: Do Research on Main Hardware Requirement   Objective: List out all the main Hardware component needed to complete the prototype   Description: After listing all the possibilities of hardware during project proposal, I started to search on more of the components. One of them is Arduino. There are some models that has their own function. I was thinking about size first, because the prototype will be installed on the bicycle. It cannot be the big one. So, I choose Arduino Nano. Arduino Nano has enough pin to make my project works. After that, I started to search on accelerometer sensor. Accelerometer sensor is use for detecting the cyclist fall. Accelerometer sensor also has some choices based on function the user needs. Since I was only detecting the fall by calculating the angle of the bicycle, then I will need 3-axis accelerometer. After searching for Arduino and Accelerometer sensor, I started to search for GPS modules. GPS is for acquiring the location of the cyclist. This

  Week 6: Proposal Defense and Interview Session   Objective: Prepare for proposal defense Make interview appointment and interview question   Description: This week is about proposal defense. Every students are waiting for the result of proposal defense whether they need to do proposal defense or not. Alhamdulillah, I was not on the list. It's means I don't have to do proposal defense. Since I don’t have to do proposal defense, I continues with my research. During my research, I was thinking, what are the common problem faced by the cyclist? Does accident happens involving cyclist? So, I decided to interview one of the cyclist from the local cycling club. Since my father was in the group, I asked my father to ask the group if anyone has involved in accident with car or any road user. After a while, someone named Razali has answered the question and the question is yes. So, I make some interview question for interview session with him.   Conclusion: Sin

  Week 5: Research from Previous Related Project   Objective: Research from related article or research paper from the previous project   Description: After submission of project proposal has been made, students are required to continue the research and prepare for proposal defense (if required). Proposal defense is for the project that has less understanding if I'm not mistaken. It is for the students to explain their self on what the project is about. Continue to research related projects, I started to list down the possibilities of other hardware. Whether I need to use gyroscope? Or do I need to use internet? It's all about why and what if. It is for the possibilities that may need to be researched on for future purposes. Some related project can be on my project, but some are not. Some project has more than what I want to do, and some project has less thing I want to do. Based on the related research project, I have made a table out of it to start comparing

  Week 4: Do Research of The Project and Submit Proposal   Objective: Do research of project tittle based on content of project proposal Submit project proposal   Description: I started searching the content of my project based on the project proposal requirement. The proposal consists of Project Introduction, Project Objective, Project Problem Statement, Project Scope, Hardware / Software Requirement, and Commercialization. So, I have to search for how my project works, what is the objective of my project, what is the problem with the current system, who will be using this prototype, what are the requirement needed to make this prototype and how will I sell this prototype. After searching for previous project, I have listed all the possibilities of hardware requirement. Based on the previous project, the hardware required for this project to function are Arduino Nano, 3-Axis Accelerometer, GPS Module, GSM module, button, and buzzer.   Week 3: Tittle Selection and Update Project Tittle   Objective: Select the final project tittle Update the details of the project for the Coordinator to see   Description: As was briefed, students may choose the titles that are offered by lecturers (FYP supervisors) or come out with own ideas. After doing some thinking, I decided to go for my own idea that is "Cyclist Emergency Detection". After selected the project tittle, all of the FYP1 student have to enter the project tittle and the name of the supervisor into the Excel file provided. I entered my project tittle and supervisor's name in the excel file and read through the list of the titles of the project to check whether other student is having the same project tittle with me or not.   Conclusion: I have chosen Cyclist Emergency Detection as my project tittle of FYP1. Week 2 :  Approach Supervisor and select project tittle   Objective : Find the most suitable supervisor and discuss on the tittle of the project   Description: I decided to follow my friend (Aiman Nizam) to search for lecturers that are still available to be the supervisor for FYP. So, we went to meet one lecturer which is Madam Roziyani Rawi. I have prepared one proposal from my last semester subject Research Methodology (RM). The title of the proposal is "Intelligent Street Lighting System". After Madam Roziyani has done reading my proposal, I started explaining about project. After done explaining, Madam Roziyani suggested that I can’t use the project from my last subject. After the meeting with Madam Roziyani, I made some research on other project tittle. After researching, I found 1 project tittle that interest me. So, I started making some research on the project tittle. Date: 23 July 2020 (Thursday) Activity :  FYP1 briefing class. The briefing was conducted in FYP1 class. The attendance of all the student that are taking the FYP1 was compulsory. Objective : Explanation of FYP1 detail Determine the requirement for FYP1 Description : The briefing was conducted by Madam Arfah. In the briefing, Madam Arfah have briefed us about the content of the project.  Objective Learning Outcomes Project Scope Research Conclusion : The students were required to carefully select the title of the project. Students may select the titles that are offered by lecturers (FYP supervisors) or come out with own ideas.
